16MNRE003 :"IMPLEMENTATION OF 70 LAKH SOLAR STUDY LAMPS IN THE STATES OF ASSAM, BIHAR, JHARKHAND, UTTAR PRADESH AND ODISHA (THROUGH EESL & IIT BOMBAY)"
About the project: The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India has sanctioned a scheme to disseminate 7 million solar study lamps to school children in the states of Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh. The project objectives are: (a) providing clean light for study purpose to rural school-going children through solar study lamp (b) localization of solar energy through skill and knowledge transfer to local people and creating livelihoods through their involvement in assembly, distribution and repair-maintenance of solar study lamps. IIT Bombay is the central coordinating agency for this project, which will be executing by collaborating with multiple partners (NGOs, Livelihood Missions, Education Institutions, etc). To meet the objectives, the project envisions to build capacity of the local communities across the intervention states, setup and manage local assembly and distributions centers where the lamps will be made, and subsequently provide after-sales service through further localized service centers. Project duration is 2 years. A pilot implementation of the above scheme was carried out in 2014-2016 by IIT Bombay, the details of which can be found @ www.soulsiitb.in
MBA/ PGDIE/ PDBM (Operations Management/Industrial Engineering) ; or M. Tech in Industrial Engineering; or equivalent degree- 15-20 years of work experience in Supply Chain Management
Head Supply Chain and Operations
1.Overall planning & management of project operations in 5 states
2.Setting up and managing the supply chains, including setting up of Zonal agencies, Assembly-Distribution (A-D) centers, after-sales service centers and the operations therein.
3. Coordinate for identification & partnering with zonal and block level agencies
4.Develop standard operations procedures for A-D activities, zonal activities and supply chain operations.
5.Coordinate the effective management training of manpower and A-D centers and zones
6.Planning of dispatches from suppliers to various locations, supplier evaluation
7.Coordinate for material delivery at various project locations
8.Coordinate for periodic quality audit visits at the program locations to monitor & ensure compliance to quality protocols
9.Monitor A-D operations and after-sales service of network; ensuring pace project to achieve project goals
10.Establish a process of continuous improvement in quality of product and processes; Design strategies to improve efficiency
11.Coordinate with State coordinators to ensure proper inventory, data & fund management
12.Submission of progress reports related to operations such as trainings, quality monitoring visits
13.Coordinate with other implementation agencies as & when required
14.Mentor and lead the supply chain and operations team
15.Willingness to travel to project locations
16.Any other related responsibilities, as assigned
