17MHRDIMP002 :"Modelling of Glacier Volume using Satellite Remote sensing, UAV and In-situ Measurements"
(MHRD (IMPRINT SCHEME))
About the project: Looking for a self-motivated, bright and fit young scholars for Junior Research Fellow post who are excited about modelling the ice thickness of Himalayan glaciers using Remote sensing data, Drones, and In-situ measurements.
You will have opportunities to visit exotic locations in Himalayas as a part of field work.
Possibility to register for PhD after 6 months of proven track record under Teaching Assistant through Project (TAP) category.
Following are the Broad Objectives:
? Field measurements using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) for development and validation of model to estimate spatial distribution of glacier depth.
? UAV based mapping of glacier extent, velocity and high resolution 3D surface topography.
? Development & validation of numerical model for glacier ice thickness estimations
? Mapping of spatial distribution of glacier depth for the selected benchmark glaciers using the developed model.
? Modelling the future evolution of glaciers using 3D full stokes model (FSM)
