About the project: The project is focussed on the practices of participatory development that increase effectiveness and relevance of various technology intervention in rural and tribal regions in order to bring social, ecological, and economic prosperity. Participatory practices ensure involvement of people, their empowerment, and their control in the overall process of developing a technology intervention to cater their priority of needs.
Position & Salary
Senior Project Research Scientist (1 Post
) Consolidated salary Rs.67000 - 91000 + Rs.8000.00/- Out Of Campus Allowance (if applicable) p.m.
PhD in participatory approaches is desirable. Thorough understanding of literature and practices as well as field experience in participatory approaches is needed with minimum 4 years relevant experience.
MTech/ME/MDes/MBA or equivalent degree with minimum 8 years relevant experience in participatory approaches is desirable. Thorough understanding of literature and practices as well as field experience in participatory approaches is needed.
The job profile includes developing technology with people that involves the following steps (these steps are iterative): a) participatory study of a given context (region, community etc.) including the identification of the peoples priorities/needs, b) Studying the contextual details of the selected needs with the people to define a comprehensive problem statement, c) working in laboratory and with people to develop a technology alternative to address the problem, d) carry out a number of iterations of implementation and redevelopment with the people to develop an adaptable, relevant, and effective technology alternative, and e) dissemination of the technology alternative.
Simultaneously, extensive scientific documentation is expected. Extensive travel in rural and tribal pockets as per the projects undertaken is expected.
The appointment is for time bound project and the candidate is required to work mainly for the successful completion of the
. The selection committee may offer lower or higher designation and lower or higher salary depending upon the experience and performance of the candidate in the interview.
