Wash resistant antibacterial coating for medical textiles
Prof Rinti Banerjee and team have developed a technology for wash resistant antibacterial coatings on textiles. The coated textiles have been validated for 99.99% reduction in bacterial load even after twenty wash cycles. The technology consists of a composite formulation which is non-toxic and non-irritant to skin. This technology can be used for multi-use masks and gowns to prevent secondary opportunistic bacterial infections in cases of prevailing viral infections or immune compromised situations. A patent has been filed for this technology and licensing for medical textiles is ongoing. The technology will be available for non-exclusive licensing for industry partners interested in medical textile applications.
